About the Job
Job Description

Located in a historic neighborhood in the nation's capital, Georgetown offers rigorous academic programs, a global perspective, exciting ways to take advantage of Washington, D.C., and a commitment to social justice. Our community is a tight knit group of remarkable individuals interested in intellectual inquiry and making a difference in the world.

Requirements

Georgetown University’s Office of Advancementis committed to cultivating a safe, equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environment that honors the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives of our broader colleagues and broader Georgetown community. Consistent with our Jesuit values, we aim to foster a culture that accepts and cares for each individual, and we believe this is central to achieving our goals in support of Georgetown’s mission.

As a key member of the Athletics Engagement team, and as part of the Athletics Development team, the Associate Director of Athletics Engagement and Events supports the philanthropic priorities and fundraising needs of Georgetown University’s Athletics Department, through events, engagement, and volunteer management. The main role of the Associate Director is strategic event planning and the associated logistics management, including contracts, budget oversight, invitation, and day-of execution. These events, which vary in size and scope annually, will range from large-scale signature or celebratory gatherings, to curated, salon dinners. Athletic Department wide and/or sport-specific, as part of the development team, each event will be focused on some aspect of the donor lifecycle, including cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of Athletics-inclined donors. It is critical this person is highly motivated, detail-oriented, and good at managing multiple priorities. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • As part of their event management responsibilities, help the Director of Athletics Engagement manage a significant Department budget and ensure all revenue streams from any events are handled appropriately.

  • Manage the direct oversight of specific individual event budgets, managing and accounting for all event income associated.

  • Engage alumni, parents, fans, and friends to ultimately scale support for Georgetown Athletics broadly, and each of the 30 sport communities.

  • Collaborate closely with the Athletics Development team, the Director of Athletics, coaches, and athletics administration to build out meaningful engagement strategies, including invitation lists and stewardship of event attendees.

  • Communicate directly with coaches and senior sports administrators in order to design and implement strategic communications and engagement initiatives, working closely with regional development colleagues to ensure successful engagement in the University’s key markets.

  • Work alongside fellow Athletic Development and Engagement colleagues in managing Athletic Department volunteer boards including Hoyas Unlimited, the Hoya Hoop Club, and 19 sport support clubs, communicating with volunteer leaders from each board, and teaching ongoing priorities and the dissemination to the larger sports communities.

  • Manage other leadership boards, including the Georgetown Athletics Women’s Allegiance Committee and the Athletics Board of Regents sub-committee.

  • Assist club presidents, board members, and volunteers to plan and execute events and activities meant to engage current and prospective donors to Athletics, collaborating closely with Athletics Annual Fund colleagues on various projects and initiatives.

  • Manage student intern(s), brought in to support the work of the Athletics Engagement and Development teams, and staff events as appropriate and/or necessary.
