- Oversee SAAS functionality. Supervise a Director, (4) Academic Counselors, a Learning Specialist, an Administrative Coordinator, 2 Graduate Assistants (GAs), and 30+ student employees.
- Implement best practices and innovative approaches to student-athlete academic support and advising.
- Assists in the coordination and implementation of the NCAA Certification of all 16 NCAA sports
- Continue to spearhead successful development and application of departmental compliance for NCAA, Sun Belt Conference (SBC), and university. Lead/coordinate NCAA and SBC departmental audits.
- Coordinate program assessment and evaluation to make data-driven decisions. Implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental processes.
- Work with other campus units and community partners to provide excellent service to student-athletes.
- Provide oversight and supervision for all 16 NCAA sponsored sports.
- Perform daily academic counseling duties for designated teams, which includes advising/counseling student-athletes on academic performance, course/major selection, graduation plans, time management, goal setting, learning and study strategies, and career planning; monitoring NCAA academic eligibility requirements.
- Produce reports at semester end; administering progress reports to professors.
- Discuss grades and develop improvement strategies with student-athletes.
- Meet weekly with coaching staff to review academic progress/issues to ensure success.
- Serve as a member of the University Athletics Committee.
- Serve on other campus committees that provide relevant information to enhance SAAS services and to network with campus constituents who provide significant assistance to our office processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
- 5 years experience in higher education athletics academics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Preferred experience working in athletic academic support with a Division I sports program
