Apply NowReporting to the Director of Environmental and Site Services, the Associate Director, Site Services is responsible for day-to-day management, productivity, and accountability of all staff within Landscape, Athletic Fields, Garage Moving, and Recycling/Waste removal.
The Associate Director is responsible for assisting the Director with short and long term performance planning and metrics, personnel management, policy development, budget development and execution, and major capital project support. Other responsibilities include management of landscape and grounds assessment programs and staff training, development. The Associate Director will collaborate with the Director and the Associate Director, Environmental Services in the development, implementation and oversight of the Snow and Ice Response Plan.
Bachelor's Degree in Landscape design or related field
Five (5) or more years of demonstrated relevant experience in grounds and landscape maintenance including two years of progressively responsible managerial experience.
Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license
A relevant combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be substituted for a degree
Relevant combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Experience in a university setting
Experience in moving logistics
Experience with recycling/waste removal
Experience in fleet management
Experience in landscape design
Experience in athletic field maintenance
Experience with snow removal operations
Proven management and leadership ability
Ability to work in a fast paced, service oriented environment.
Ability to communicate and interact with diverse customers and constituencies
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other web based applications
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
Planning, organizing and effective time management skills.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control and monitor expenses
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
Ability to anticipate and solve problems.
Attention to detail
Working knowledge of computerized systems/software appropriate to physical plant operations is desired.
Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required
Local travel between campus locations only
Driving a Rensselaer vehicle for non-passenger use
Expected hiring range:
$80,000 – $101,000

The selected candidate’s salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate’s qualifications, experience, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer’s good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
