Job Description

The Associate Head Coach, Softball reports to the Head Softball Coach and is responsible for all aspects of The University of Tulsa’s

NCAA

Division I Softball Program. This position serves the Softball Head Coach on the overall development, leadership, and vision of the softball program at the University of Tulsa. This role will perform as a positive role model for student-athletes in an upbeat environment that strives for academic and athletic excellence and will establish a professional relationship with student-athletes, staff, alumni and the public in an effort to promote the university and its athletic program.

Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years collegiate coaching experience

Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills

Strong self-starter

Ability to work within the American Athletic Conference

Knowledge of

NCAA

rules and regulations

Ability to work closely with a diverse group of people

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, coaches and administrators

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

Act as a representative on behalf of the Head Coach for all recruiting and donor related functions as needed/ or assigned.

Assist the head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition

Serve as a hitting coach or defensive coach

Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes

Assist the head coach, as directed, in the recruitment of student-athletes in accordance with

NCAA

rules and university standards

Assist, as appropriate, in planning and arranging recruiting travel, recruiting calendar, equipment needs; may coordinate personnel and equipment transportation and accommodations

Establish a productive, well-rounded environment which stresses the importance of academics in conjunction with athletics

Establish a professional relationship with students, staff, alumni and the general public in an effort to promote the university and its athletics program

Work closely with athletic training, academics and strength and conditioning to monitor the progress of student athletes

Support the student-athlete concept by demonstrating concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete

Work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel

Other duties as assigned by Head Softball Coach

Physical Demands

Work requires working with highly sensitive or confidential information and occasional overnight travel may occur.
