JOB SUMMARY: The Associate/Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Governance is responsible for the day-to-day administration and operations of a comprehensive compliance and rules education program for 20 varsity sports and approximately 500 student-athletes to ensure adherence to all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations. The position will serve as the department’s liaison for multiple offices on campus including, but not limited to: Admissions, Financial Aid, Global Strategy, Legal Affairs and Title IX. Additionally, this position will serve as the sport administrator for select varsity programs. Other Administrative duties and Committee assignments to be determined by the Vice President for Athletics.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s or Law degree preferred
EXPERIENCE: Candidates should have proven, progressive experience in all aspects of NCAA compliance at the campus and/or conference level, with previous experience at the Division I level preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of, and continued mastery of, the ever-changing world of NCAA governance and legislative matters and the ability to assist with/coordinate the enhancement of systems and infrastructure relative to the effective implementation of the NCAA House Settlement model will be paramount. Demonstrated ability to implement NCAA rules education, monitoring and compliance procedures, strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills. Preference is for candidates with direct experience in NCAA compliance related software and ARMS (or related software).

UNUSUAL WORK CONDITIONS: Work schedule requires nights and weekends
when necessary.
SUPERVISION OF PERSONNEL: Coordinator of Compliance and Student Success, Selected Head Coach(es), staffs and programs as assigned Sport Administrator, Graduate Assistant(s)
REPORTS TO: Vice President for Athletics with a dotted line to University Legal Counsel
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversees all day-to-day compliance activities to ensure the department is adhering to all rules and regulations of the institution, conference(s) and the NCAA.
2. Educates athletic department staff, coaches, student-athletes, university liaisons and various alumni and external constituents/entities regarding NCAA rules and legislation. Additionally support department and university staff in necessary interpretations.
3. Assist with/coordinate the enhancement of systems and infrastructure relative to the effective implementation of the NCAA Division I House Settlement model.
4. Oversees, monitors and forecasts all athletic scholarship awards and allocations in collaboration with each varsity program for the academic year and summer sessions.
5. Coordinates collaborative efforts, completion and submission of various University, Conference and NCAA annual reports and data collection including, but not limited to APR, GSR and federal graduation reports.
6. Assist in/coordinate the development of requisite infrastructure and systems to provide effective education and monitor NIL activities of all student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations.
7. Serves as the primary liaison to the office of Enrollment Management to coordinate and assist coaches with the comprehensive recruitment, admissions and financial aid processes of all student-athletes.
8. Department liaison to university office such as admissions, financial aid, global strategy legal affairs and title ix. Others as needed and assigned by the Vice President for Athletics.
9. Coordinates revisions and updates to the department of athletics policies and procedures manual as needed.
10. Serves as a member of the Athletics Department Senior Staff.
11. Serves as a sport administrator for select varsity programs.
12. Participates in the professional development of the department.
As a member of the Senior Staff, communicates effectively with supervisor(s) concerning pertinent departmental matters.
Monitor developments in Athletics through membership in professional associations, attendance at workshops and seminars, and in the reading of professional literature.
Promote a professional and courteous image as a university steward and ambassador.
Attend departmental staff meetings as required.
Perform efficiently in all work-related functions,
Functions as a TEAM player in support of the university and departmental mission, vision and cultural commitments, including participating in various events and community service activities when possible.
Participate in annual strategic planning discussions and development.
13. Promote safe and secure working conditions.
Promote the proper utilization of equipment and materials,
Notify supervisor immediately of any unsafe working conditions.
14. To be responsible for the application and management of multiple budget areas:
Budgeting, oversight and approval of compliance expenditures throughout the fiscal year for both administrative units and assigned teams.
Budgeting, oversight and approval of operating expenditures throughout the fiscal year for assigned sport programs.
Forecast annual budgetary needs for the upcoming fiscal year for both administrative units and assigned teams.
15. Performs other duties as directed or dictated by the Vice President for Athletics
