Job Duties

The Director of Sports Medicine reserves the right to amend or change these duties to meet the needs of the department.
Job duties may include but are not limited to:
-Oversees the primary care coverage for varsity teams, both home and away, as designated by the Director of Sports Medicine by providing emergency care, injury evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of all varsity athletic injuries.
-Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses within the University’s Sports Medicine Department.
-Supervises Interns and Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and mentor them as young professionals of the athletic training profession.
-Provides athletic training services for the University’s Athletic Department, including coverage of scheduled team practices and games – both home and away.
-Handles proper communication between the student-athlete and coaching staff on rehabilitation and recovery processes.

-Assists with the coordination of all physical examinations, medical insurance and other medical administrative forms and processes
Works in conjunction with the coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and sports dietitian to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs.
Collaborates with team doctors and local hospital to deliver care to student-athletes.
