Essential Functions

Summary

Function:  This position will assist the Head Coach in all phases of the Women’s Soccer program, including coaching current team members, recruiting quality student-athletes on a national and international level, and administrative duties as assigned.

Scope:  To serve as a coach and mentor to student-athletes in the sport of Women’s Soccer. UTSA coaches are expected to use proper judgement in the position at all times, follow all UTSA and NCAA rules and regulations, complete tasks in a timely manner, and represent the University, its athletic department, and the UTSA Women’s Soccer team in a professional and positive manner.

Duties

Typical:

1. Assist with on-field coaching, game preparations, and scouting of opponents.
2. Monitor student-athlete academic progress.
3. Assist head coach in recruiting prospects as assigned by head soccer coach.
4. Make in-person evaluation.
5. Host on-campus recruiting visits as assigned.
6. Lead Coach after Head Coach.
7. Make presentations to local and national groups promoting UTSA and UTSA soccer.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Periodic:

1. Represent UTSA at American Athletic Conference and national meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in any field of study.
• At least seven years soccer experience as a college, high level club, professional or international player or coach.
• Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, standard office equipment, and Video Analysis.
• Good assessment and communication skills to recruit and represent UTSA.
• Knowledge of NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and UTSA rules and regulations.
• Ability to travel extensively using personal or rental vehicles to perform essential functions of the job.  Travel will be regionally, nationally, and globally.
• Current valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited university.
• Ten years soccer experience as a college, professional or international player or coach.

Working Conditions

• Physical activity in the sport of soccer, weekend and evening hours and required travel.

This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
