ASST ATHLETIC TRAINER
Serves as a certified and licensed staff athletic trainer for CMU intercollegiate student-athletes; provides daily athletic training services to assigned teams; supervises injury care, referral and rehabilitation; travels to team events, attends home events, and attends daily workouts; is an active participant in our sports medicine health care team; and serves as clinical preceptor for athletic training curriculum students.
Bachelor’s degree, athletic training related.One year of full-time certified athletic training work experience.Certified Athletic Trainer by NATA Board of Certification.Currently licensed or eligible for a state of Michigan License in Athletic Training (AT).Currently certified or eligible for CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.Strong organizational skills.Willing to travel and work irregular hours, nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Master’s degree.Two or more years of certified athletic training work experience.Professional, Olympic and/or NCAA Division I experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer.Strong background in surgical and non-surgical rehabilitation for upper and lower extremity injuries.Graston, IASTM, ART, CSCS, PES, CES or other additional certifications.Experience with Vivature Injury Tracking software.Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.Mentorship experience of athletic training students, graduate assistants, interns and/or staff members.
Serves as a Certified Athletic Trainer for CMU teams as assigned.Works under the direction of the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.Organizes and manages the care of student-athletes in consultation with the CMU Medical Director.Daily communication with coaching staff, strength and conditioning personnel.Communicates with CMU Student-Athlete Services staff to coordinate schedules and potential class/academic conflict for student-athletes with current health care conditions.Assists in conducting drug testing to comply with CMU’s and the NCAA’s Substance Abuse Control Program.Assists with maintaining all athletic training equipment and facilities.Assists with the ordering and inventory of all athletic training supplies and equipment.Assists with the recruitment and supervision of part time staff (Graduate Assistant and Intern) Athletic Trainers.Provides medical care, referral, and medical record keeping as assigned.Serves as a clinical preceptor for the undergraduate athletic training curriculum program.Understands and maintains confidentiality of HIPPA and FERPA protected information; handles information appropriately.Upholds and works within Policy and Procedures established for the CMU Sports Medicine Department.Provides daily evaluation and treatment of orthopedic and non-orthopedic injury conditions.Scheduling, executing, and supervision of surgical and non-surgical rehabilitation programs.Facilitates outside physician referrals, in-house facility physician clinics, in-house facility orthopedic clinics.Documents in electronic injury tracking system daily; including but not limited to treatments, progress notes, diagnostic imaging, and physician referrals.Facilitates retrieval of outside medical records and documentation for record keeping.Communicates student-athlete referrals to insurance coordinator; point person for insurance coordinator with assigned student-athlete needs.Handles daily facility organization, maintenance, cleaning, and inventory.Schedules and manages student athletic trainer’s schedules and evaluations for students in clinical rotation.Communicates with necessary athletic department staff regarding student-athlete injury conditions, limitations, needs, and accommodations.Works with strength and conditioning department personnel to create alternate workout plans for injured student-athletes. Facilitates and assists with referrals/appointments with CMU Athletics Department Nutritionist.Acts as liaison and point of contact for student-athletes with the CMU Athletics Department Dedicated Student-Athlete Counselor and mental health care provider team.Other administrative duties as assigned.
