Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Asst. Coach – Field Hockey for University Athletics. Under the direct supervision of the Head Coach, this position assists in the coordination of a Women’s Field Hockey intercollegiate athletic program which provides an opportunity for student-athletes to train and compete on a competitive, Division I women’s field hockey program while attending school to earn a college degree.Among the key duties of this position are the following: Assists in establishing and maintaining a nationally competitive intercollegiate women’s field hockey team within the Big Ten Conference and NCAA. Recruits high-level academically, and athletically-skilled female students to attend Rutgers to earn a degree and to compete in the women’s field hockey program. Assists in organizing and conducting practices and competitions at a high level of efficiency and success. Assists in developing, teaching and instructing the student-athletes in the proper rules of competition, conditioning, skills and techniques on the field and in life-skills and leadership qualities on and off the field. Assists in fundraising and public relations events that support the objectives of the program and allow for program enhancements.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or extensive coaching experience required.
Must possess coaching certifications gained through USA Field Hockey and/or FIH (International Hockey Federation). Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Experience in talent identification for purpose of recruiting elite student-athletes to the field hockey program. Establish relationships domestically and internationally to identify and recruit elite student-athletes Ability to session plan for short and long-term development. Proven success with elite teams, either as assistant or head coach. Ability to communicate with student-athletes, staff and the media. Must be able to assist in planning and arranging travel for field hockey team, within budgetary constraints. Knowledge of NCAA regulations relative to proper rules of play in the sport of field hockey.
Masters degree or equivalent in sports/coaching-related field preferred. International and/or collegiate field hockey coaching and competition experience. Knowledge of the Big Ten Conferences and NCAA regulations preferred. Coaching at the international level preferred. Coaching qualifications from national and international governing bodies, including FIH.

Candidate must be capable of working outside, on your feet, for long periods of time. This is a physically demanding position.
Nights and weekends are required. Clean driving record.
