Job Description:
The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Game Day Operations is responsible for the oversight of all ticketing and game day operations and functions for the Salisbury University Athletics Department. This position will recruit and supervise all game day student workers and staff, assign roles to ensure the smooth execution and elevation of game day at SU, and will oversee ticketing operations with the goal of enhanced revenue generation through ticket sales.
This position will supervise the Maggs Physical Activities Center and will work closely with campus partners to ensure Maggs is prepared for facilities rentals and operates safely and effectively for the 7,000 students and staff that utilize the facility. As the Maggs building manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety and security of the building, and is on-call for all emergency and facility situations. The incumbent will also oversee the Aquatics Director and ITC director and will be charged with enhanced rentals and revenue generation for the respective facilities. This position will strategically develop and streamline SU’s facility policies, ultimately leading to a better game day experience for coaches, fans and student-athletes. SU athletics hosts more than 150 athletics events each year in addition to hundreds of outside events through community partnerships, camps and clinics, and outside rentals. The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Game Day Operations will work closely with Conferences and Events to maximize the availability and accessibility of Maggs.
The incumbent will play crucial role in the NCAA bid process and will act as tournament director for NCAA post-season events. SU athletics strives to provide the best game day experience in Division III and the opportunity to host as many NCAA events as possible.
This position will also assist with strategic marketing initiatives and in-game event and promo management with the goal of further engaging SU students and increasing both student and fan attendance at SU athletics events.
Authority and Accountability
This position will report directly to the Director of Athletics and Campus Recreation. This position will oversee two (2) full-time employees, all contractual workers, and a full staff of student-workers employed through Maggs Facility and Game Day Operations.
This position will have oversight and authority of the Maggs Facility budget, including payroll for contingents and student-workers.
This position will be responsible for training staff and students on the Emergency Action Plan for the building and ensuring safety and well-being for those who utilize the facility.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree, three years (or Master’s degree and 2-3 years, preferred) or more of related experiences in athletics facility management and game operations at the collegiate level. Demonstration of comprehensive understanding of athletic operations, facility management and strategic leadership. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and budget experience required. Personnel management skills including personnel decisions, coordination, scheduling, delegation of duties, mentoring and supervision of assistants, work study, interns and students.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience and ability to strategically assess and promote growth of the game day experience and maximization of facility use for the purpose of revenue generation. Innovative approach to enhancing the day-to-day operations and visibility of events and promoting excellence through fan and student engagement.
