The purpose of the Assistant Director of Digital Media and Athletics Communications is to publicize and promote Seton Hall’s student-athletes. This is done by establishing good relations with the local media, writing press releases, maintaining accurate and current information on the athletics website, keeping historical information, coordinating statistical information and creating original content through writing and video that can be disseminated on the website and through social media. The position is also responsible for game-day management of statistics, public announcers, and media at athletics events and is responsible for managing the department’s video assets, including the inventory of live broadcasts streamed through the Pirate Sports Network.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Media contact for the several varsity sports as assigned. Responsible for arranging interviews for the coaching staff and student-athletes. Promote student-athletes for conference, regional and national recognition. Responsible for home game event management (pre-/post-game media needs, game programs, announcements, statistics and game notes production) and travels with the team to conference and/or NCAA Championships. Also responsible for writing press releases, feature articles, targeted email and phone story pitches, and award nominations.
Responsible for assisting the Assistant Athletics Director for Digital Media & Communications in managing the department’s video assets. This includes planning and executing live broadcasts for the Pirate Sports Network, packaging video content such as interviews and highlights for use in promoting student-athletes in features and specialized social media content and creating an end-of-year highlight video for department.
Responsible for all maintenance of Seton Hall’s athletic website, www.shupirates.com. This entails regular updates of stories, statistics and historical archives including the graphical art and aesthetic upkeep of the website.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree – Field of study: Communications, sports management, writing/English
Desired Qualifications:
1-3 years experience in a college sports information setting; strong written and verbal skills; knowledge of media trends at local, regional and national levels.
