The Intercollegiate Athletics department at South Dakota State University (

) is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Athletic Academic Advisor. As an Athletic Academic Advisor, you will play an important role in providing academic counseling, support, and monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes, ensuring compliance with
SDSU

NCAA
regulations. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES
:
This position will develop and implement systematic strategies to facilitate student-athlete academic achievement, retention, and graduation. Develop and evaluate athletic academic assistance programs, as well as project student-athletes progress towards degrees will be a vital part of this position.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Earned Bachelor’s degree by appointment date;
One year experience in academic advising, student development or related experience at the collegiate level (preference with student-athletes);
Self-directed and motivated;
Ability to maintain confidentiality;
Sensitivity to the needs of a wide variety of students;
Effective communication (oral, written, and interpersonal) skills; and
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
PREFERRED
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Earned Master’s degree;
Understanding of athletics sports programs;
Academic advising of student-athletes;
Division I
NCAA
rules and regulations knowledge; and
Computer proficiency and student integrated management system experience.
