Athletic Academic Counselor
Apply NowAthletic Academic Counselors will monitor degree progress each semester with regard to institutional, conference and
NCAA
requirements. They Counselor will collaborate with Department (major) Advisors for course selection and credit loads for student-athletes. They will meet regularly with students regarding academic matters and will serve as liaisons to faculty on behalf of students when necessary. They will be the academic recruiting liaison for their respective sport and will process transcript evaluations for incoming student-athletes, monitoring initial and continuing eligibility. They will be a member of the
APR
Task Force and will report on
APR
projections and anticipated graduation rates (
GSR
).
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Counseling or a related field. 3-5 years of academic advising experience in an intercollegiate athletic setting; professional experience working in a college level academic support office, teaching college level courses, or experience in training and supervision; previous experience overseeing undergraduate and graduate student workers; knowledge of student-athlete issues and the ability to assist students in navigating personal issues that may impact their student-athlete experiences.
Lifting, Carrying, Stooping, Bending, Kneeling, Squatting, Walking, Standing, Sitting, Cognitive Ability (clear thinking ability, discernment and ability to make decisions. Read, write, problem-solve use of discretion.
