For the Master of Arts in Higher Education Leadership, Organizational Leadership or Sports Leadership programs, this assistantship offers the GA opportunities to create solutions, discover new leadership ideas and skills, as well as to develop the ability to engage and motivate others. The GA will gain experience in relationship development within different populations including but not limited to head and assistant coaches, general students and student-athletes, alumni, other professionals in various departments across campus and within the
NCAA
Division
III
administrative bodies. The GA will have opportunities to develop conflict resolution skills to achieve goals in professional settings with other coaches and administration/staff; develop and manage problem solving skills to be used in the daily work environment.
For the
MBA
student, this assistantship offers the GA experiences in college administration that should help students to see the big picture of higher education as a whole to appreciate revenues and expenses and how different issues impact practical considerations in intercollegiate athletics. Students will have hands on experiences in budgeting, event management, marketing, operations, leading student-athletes, as well as supervision and management of student employees. The GA will gain experience in relationship development including but not limited to coaches, staff and faculty, undergraduate students, alumni, and community leaders. Additional opportunities will include calculating return on investment for recruiting & marketing activities as well as assessing how to create action plans to put long-term goals into practice with the goal of increasing productivity.

Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Intermediate skills using MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel
Experience in college athletics strongly preferred
20 hours per week during the academic year, excluding academic breaks
