Job Description:
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance at Colorado State University seeks an energetic individual with a musical background who will support and promote the Athletic Bands, which currently includes the
CSU
Marching Band, the Basketball Pep Band, and the Presidential Pep Band.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
•Communicate with current athletic band students, prospective students, and parents via e-mail, telephone, the website, and campus visits, using appropriate musical terminology.
•Coordinate athletic band promotions, recruiting, and marketing with the
SMTD
marketing team and director of athletic bands. Participates in campus orientations and recruitment fairs to help increase athletic band enrollment. Meets regularly with prospective students and families on campus and via teleconference.
•Maintain database with potential students, current students, and alumni band.
•Assist in pre-arranging all logistics for athletic band events, including meals, coaches (buses), flights, housing, itineraries, banquets, awards, etc.
•Work with band staff and marching band alumni team to coordinate special events (Concert Band pizza party, Drums Along the Rockies).
•Schedules and organizes Color Guard and Drumline auditions.
•Administrative support in preparation for the
CSU
Marching Band Camp.
•Coordinate with campus housing and dining regarding early move in for athletic band students; then coordinate with students (and parents of new
CSU
students).
•Schedule and coordinate summer meetings with Athletics, Hazing Prevention,
CSU
Alumni personnel, President’s event staff, student government/student services to coordinate special events throughout the year.
•Assists the Athletic Bands with music preparation and distribution.
•Assist with purchases for the athletic bands, which may include: uniform parts, staff apparel, music, equipment and supplies.
•Maintain athletic band uniform and instrument inventory. Assist in checking-in instruments. Organize and clean out the Annex storage area.
•Assist with repair/maintenance for MB instruments, and keep an updated inventory for insurance purposes. Assists in filing police reports and/or insurance claims as needed.
•Reserve
UCA
rooms as needed for the athletic bands.
A masters degree in music
Demonstrated ability to interact well with others and speak and understand common vocabulary among musicians
Evidence of outstanding written and communication skills
Experience coordinator large group activities and/or events
