SUMMARY:
This is a fulltime, 12-month salaried position. The Athletic Communications Director develops and oversees an integrated communications strategy that promotes the goals, values, and the mission of the Department of Athletics consistent with the strategic communications objectives of Lawrence Technological University. The Athletic Communications Director is responsible for managing all aspects of media relations related to the Athletic Department. The position oversees all aspect of athletic communications, including website and dayto-day statistical operations for all our athletic events.
JOB DUTIES:
o The Athletic Communications Director will be responsible for maintaining LTU’s athletic website (ltuathletics.com)
o Communicate with coaching staff to gain game results immediately following all road games in order to get results on LTU athletic website
o Write game summaries immediately following events to get information on LTU website
o Promote LTU’s department of Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness via social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
o Provide accurate stats for coaches on game days for all athletic events
o Submit stats immediately following LTU athletic events in accordance to WHAC and NAIA rules and regulations
o Work with Yellow Flag on a comprehensive Marketing campaign to promote all LTU athletic teams and events
o Assist in the promotion of department events.
o Work with appropriate media outlets to promote Lawrence Tech athletes and team results
o Coordinate signing day events with the guidance of the Athletic Director
o Develop social media policy for student athletes, athletic staff and administration
o Serve as game day manager on an as needed basis
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
B.S. or B.A. with emphasis in Sport Management, Business Administration, Recreation or another related field. A minimum of 2 years in media relations positions (collegiate preferred).
