The Northern Kentucky University Athletic Communications department seeks qualified candidates to fill between 4-6 student-worker positions. The student-workers will assist three full-time staff and one graduate assistant with regular duties in the department, including, but not limited to: game-day staffing, scoreboard operation, assisting with media room obligations for men’s and women’s basketball, creation of game programs and other supplemental materials, videography, photography and graphic design. Student-workers will also have the ability to assist with social media and composing written materials for NKU’s 17 athletic programs. While all student-workers may be asked to assist in any area, the athletic communications department is seeking student-workers for three primary roles: Game-Day/Office, Videography, Photography.
Game-Day/Office (2-4 Student-Workers) • Assist staff with game-day duties, including, but not limited to: event setup, scoreboard operation, inputting live stats, social media, writing game recaps, public address announcer (on occasion), assisting media members and other duties as assigned • Office work may include: creating game programs, writing game previews or other department releases, record keeping, assisting with photo/video shoots, building graphics for use on social media/NKUNorse.com, and other duties as assigned; updating NKUNorse.com Photography (1 Student-Worker) • Assist with and shoot game-day or other special photography (headshots, posed action, etc.) needs • Help edit photographs using Adobe Creative Suite • Archive photographs Videography (1 Student-Worker) • Assist with and shoot game-day highlights or other special projects (video bios, etc.) • Assist with set-up for shoots • Edit using Adobe Creative Suite • Archive videos
Qualifications • High School Diploma • Must be enrolled as an NKU student and must be in good academic standing with NKU. All interested students must fill-out an online student employment application. • Any candidate who is offered this position will be required to go through a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law. • Have flexible schedules and willingness to work nights and weekends. Desired Qualifications • Prior experience in athletics, especially competing at high school or collegiate levels • Majoring in communications, public relations, journalism, sport business, electronic media & broadcasting, media informatics or visual communication • Prior experience as a photographer or operating a camera (still and video) is preferred for the photography and videography positions • Intend to work in athletics profession upon graduation Performance Traits 1.
