Position Summary

FLSA : Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range : $5,022 per month - $5,487 per month

CSU Classification Salary Range : $5,022 per month - $9,083 per month

Pay Plan : 12 months 

Work Hours : Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. Work hours may vary depending on department need.

Department Information  

The program of intercollegiate athletics is organized and conducted as an integral part of the total educational program of the University. Academic excellence and athletic accomplishments go hand in hand at Sacramento State. There are three separate and unique missions in this program: to contribute to the educational objectives of the University; to provide a healthy, competitive athletic experience to individual student-athletes; to serve as a public relations vehicle within the community.

Minimum Qualifications 

Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Required Qualifications 

Experience:

1. Experience handling compliance concerns, such as within the University setting and the general public 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Working knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules, interpretations and waivers (i.e. Division I or Division II)
2. Highly developed problem-solving skills, with demonstrated sound judgment evaluating, interpreting and applying policies and procedures with complex compliance problems, including pertinent laws and regulations
3. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and effective listening skills
4. Ability to make presentations
5. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions
6. Proficient in the use of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite)
7. Demonstrated ability to compile, prepare, write and review reports
8. Strong analytical skills
9. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships (e.g. with student-athletes, coaches, faculty, staff, and the community) in a diverse environment
10. Ability to provide lead work direction
11. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.”

Preferred Qualifications

1. Advanced degree in a related field.
2. Two or more years’ experience working with NCAA Division I or II rules and experience providing interpretations and preparing waivers.
3. Experience working with Compliance Assistant (CA), Legislative Services Database for the internet (LSDBi), Requests/Self-Reports Online (RSRO, ARMS software, and PeopleSoft).
4. Experience conducting training sessions for multiple groups.
5. Two or more years of experience in intercollegiate athletics at the NCAA Division I or the Division II level in the area of compliance.
