Description

This position is responsible for providing compliance and academic assistance to student-athletes, coaches, and staff within the division. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable NCAA, Atlantic Sun, United Athletic Conference, and university policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties

• Utilize ARMS/Teamworks roster management system.
• Monitor and ensure compliance of the recruiting process for official, unofficial visits, including phone logs, calendars, and off-campus recruiting requests.
• Monitor institutional camps and clinics and required paperwork.
• Assist and present compliance education to all coaches, staff, student-athletes, and donors.
• Work with coaches and staff to provide interpretations of NCAA, ASUN, and UAC conference and institutional bylaws and rules.
• Assist in monitoring and approving playing and practice seasons for all or select sports.
• Monitor and approve CARA logs.
• Complete transfer tracers in the transfer portal.
• Assist with athletic academics in the areas of at-risk, advising, and textbooks.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, required;
• Master’s degree, preferred;
• Experience with athletic compliance or academic advising, required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
None

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of applicable NCAA, university, Atlantic Sun, and United Athletic Conference guidelines;
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of student-athletes, coaches, staff, faculty, administrators, parents, vendors, visitors, and the general public;
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
• Ability to maintain accurate records and files;
• Ability to attend recruiting functions, various events, and meetings which may include some evenings/weekends;
• Ability to maintain confidentiality;
• Regular and prompt attendance;
• Knowledge of and the ability to analyze and interpret the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) information for designated teams/programs;
• Overall knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations.

ATHLETICS ADDENDUM:
As the Athletics Compliance Coordinator for UNA, you will be expected to comply with all NCAA and conference rules and regulations and with the provisions of gender equity as specified by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. You are required to participate in an annual review of relevant conference and NCAA rules and regulations governing your position responsibilities. You are expected to advise the Athletic Director if you are aware of any violation of NCAA/conference rules or regulations in the University's athletics programs. Violation of NCAA/Conference rules or regulations shall subject you to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures and as required by Section 11.2 of the NCAA Manual. Further, you may be terminated or disciplined for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the institution has violated an NCAA rule or regulation. You shall also be subject to disciplinary action for violation of any University rules, policies, regulations or the provisions of Title IX pursuant to the policies and procedures governing university staff employees.
