Athletic Development Officer – Annual Fund

Job Summary
S/he will create opportunities to support Athletic Department priorities and report to the Senior Director of Athletic Development.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Write, edit, and coordinate distribution of all athletic annual fund solicitations including direct mail, eblasts, online stories and stewardship.
Work with coaching staff of all athletic programs to assist with priority needs, annual fund solicitations and affinity group solicitations.
Ensure that the Red White Club online website is updated regularly.
Handle a portfolio of prospects
Assist in moving donors up giving table starting with $1,000+ annual donors and in identifying new Athletics prospects
Solicit gifts on own or in combination with Senior Director of Athletic Development, other Development Officers where appropriate
Liaise between Athletic Development and Ticket Office for Season Ticket Holders and BIG EAST Tournament Tickets
Oversee athletic campaign tracking reports to include prospects, solicitations, verbal commitments, and signed Letters of Intent.
Order Red White Club Annual Renewal Gift Orders.
Coordinate of Mandatory Ticket Contributions into Affinaquest from Ticket Office
Manage Weekly or Bi-Weekly Acknowledgement Letters and Priority Points System
Provide Reports of Athletics Monthly Gifts at $5,000+ and Monthly Fundraising Athletic Reports Overall and per Athletic Program
Conduct Auction Fulfillment for both Special Events and On-Line
Travel as deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis with Athletic Development special event attendance noted as:
Competencies
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of 2 years' experience in development, preferably in higher education, or transferable skills
Demonstrated knowledge of development practices and principles
A track record of success in managing major gift prospects and in closing gifts
Demonstrated skill to work within a complex environment with strong capabilities in planning, organizing, and managing
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and peers in the Institutional Advancement area and with internal partners and external volunteers
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated interpersonal skills
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional work environment and uses standard office equipment.
Physical Demands
This position often requires long periods of standing and moving about in arena-like settings.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This full-time position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week and often requires long hours, weekend, and evening work.
Travel
Overnight work and travel across the United States will be necessary.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience or training, preferably in higher education or athletics
Experience in capital campaigns is preferred
Other Duties
Flexibility to travel
Weekend, evening, and some holiday work will be necessary

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $72,700 - $79,500. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
