Key Responsibilities:
o Provide visionary leadership for the athletic department, aligning athletic programs with the college's mission and strategic priorities.
o Develop, implement, and assess policies and procedures to ensure the effective operation of all athletic programs.
o Oversee the scheduling of practices, competitions, dorm rooms assignments and events, ensuring optimal use of facilities and resources.
o Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate coaches, athletic trainers, RA Staff and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
o Ensure all athletic department staff receive annual training in first aid, CPR, and other relevant certifications.
o Establish and monitor recruitment and retention strategies to meet enrollment goals for all sports.
o Promote academic success by coordinating with academic support services to monitor student-athlete academic progress and eligibility.
o Develop programs that support the holistic development of student-athletes, emphasizing leadership, sportsmanship, and personal growth.
o Ensure all athletic programs comply with institutional, conference, and state regulations, including eligibility, safety protocols, and ethical standards.
o Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes and staff.
o Develop and manage the athletic department budget, including forecasting, allocation, and monitoring of funds.
o Oversee the procurement and maintenance of athletic equipment and facilities, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.
o Coordinate athletic scholarships in alignment with institutional policies and budgetary constraints.
o Collaborate with the marketing department to promote athletic events, achievements, and programs to enhance community engagement and support.
o Represent the college at conference meetings, regional and national athletic events, and other relevant gatherings to enhance the visibility and reputation of the athletic programs.
o Organize and manage home athletic events, including staffing, ticketing, security, and compliance with event protocols.
o Coordinate transportation, lodging, and other logistics for away competitions, ensuring a safe and efficient travel experience for teams.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor's degree in business administration, sports administration or a similar filed. A Master's degree is preferred.
