Cheyney University invites applicants for the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics position. This is a full-time (100% FTE) position and is a part of the APSCUF collective bargaining unit.

The incumbent directs and administers intercollegiate athletics on behalf of Cheyney University and provides quality educational and student athletic experiences as part of a comprehensive effort to foster student-athletes' success. The position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating a comprehensive athletics program for both men and women, providing leadership to staff coaches, trainers, and administrative staff. The Director is expected to work in collaboration with University Advancement to ensure fundraising goals are established and met, to promote and market programs, and to develop funding initiatives for innovative programs and facilities. The position of Director of Intercollegiate Athletics is a twelve (12) month position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes, maintains, and implements policies for the administration of the Department of Athletics.
  • Implements athletic programs and policies within the guidelines of the University and other non-conference entities. Evaluate the total athletic program to ensure its compliance with division and/or university policy.
  • Recruits and provides for the selection, organization, and supervision of the staff, and delegates responsibilities to ensure efficient and productive operation of all administrative, business, fiscal and athletic activities of the department.
