Consistent with the College’s mission, the Athletic Director will provide vision, leadership, and administration of Trinity Christian College’s intercollegiate athletics, recreation, club sports and intramural program. Supervise and oversee the coaching staff and administrative personnel and the DeVos Athletics Complex and George and June Schaaf Athletics Complex.
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Provide strategic leadership for the College’s athletic program, which includes NAIA and NCCAA intercollegiate athletics, club sports, intramural programs, fitness and recreation programs and athletic sports camps. Establish and implement annual goals. Manage daily operations, budgets, contract negotiations, all aspect of compliance, facility oversight, and departmental planning.
Lead the athletic department coaching and administrative staff. Recruit, hire, supervise/mentor, develop and evaluate all staff. Ensure the recruitment of competent and diverse coaches and staff who embrace the mission of Trinity Christian College and embody the purpose of student life and athletics. Develop coaching capacity and manage administrative leadership through delegation of additional administrative duties. Develop and foster a culture that pursues well-being of the coaches and staff of the athletic department as well as the college community.
Create and cultivate a culture for student-athletes that promotes Trinity Student Life’s purpose and outcomes in such a way that is uniquely suited to athletics. Maintain a presence within the campus community on behalf of athletics. Develop and foster a culture and program that pursues well-being for student-athletes related to academic thriving, vocation, competition, wellness, and faith formation. Develop and implement student-athlete code of conduct
Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, divisional and athletics regulations, administering departmental funds and accounts in a fiscally responsible manner
With the student life purpose and outcomes as a foundation, articulate a compelling vision for Trolls Athletics to the campus and constituency. Collaborate with Sports Information Director, and Marketing & Communications Department to promote the athletics vision to campus, alumni, and surrounding communities.
Represent Trinity at intercollegiate conference and sports associations including activities as required by the NAIA, NCCAA, and the CCAC.
Work closely with office of advancement to develop and maintain fundraising efforts that support athletic programs by serving as the contact person with major donors and supporters of athletic programs. Develop Trinity Athletics Club and related booster initiatives. Coordinate corporate sponsorships for athletics.
Through leadership of staff and collaboration with Trollnation, develop game-day initiatives and environment that promotes sportsmanship among students, student-athletes, attendees. Coordinate athlete and alumni honoring events, including Hall of Fame and other related programs.
Develop opportunities for summer programs/camps.
Initiate the development of new sports and evaluate the continuance of existing sports.
Ensure safe and proper management of events. Coordinate emergency response procedures for athletic events in conjunction with Campus Safety and Security.
Supervise facility usage and maintenance in the DeVos Athletics Complex and the George and June Schaaf Athletics Complex. Collaborate with physical plant on maintenance concerns. In collaboration with vice president and with conferences/events, oversee shared use agreements with other entities. Develop short and long-term capital planning schedule.
Serve on college task forces and committees as needed
A bachelor’s degree is required while a master’s degree is preferred.
