About the Position:
The College of Health and Human Development strives to prepare students to thrive in a globalized era in their chosen field. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Athletic Equipment Attendant II. The Kinesiology Health Sciences Athletic Equipment Attendant has the primary responsibility for day-to-day coordination of logistical activities related to performance courses and teaching gyms and labs for the Department of Kinesiology. Reporting to the Associate Dean for the College of Health and Human Development and receiving work direction from the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology, the Kinesiology Health Sciences Athletic Equipment Attendant provides general facility supervision, coordinates use and maintenance of equipment/facilities/labs for the Department of Kinesiology at CSUF (over 2000 students and 80 faculty). Duties include coordinating with the Department of Athletics and supporting the Kinesiology Department Chair, faculty, other staff, and, on occasion, Kinesiology students. Other duties as assigned.
One year of experience which would provide adequate training for supervising the equipment and supply services in a college athletic program. General knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies used in competitive sports and in physical education classes; working knowledge of proper methods of storing equipment; working knowledge of preservatives and cleaning materials and techniques used in maintaining athletic equipment. Ability to compare names and numbers rapidly and accurately; ability to take inventory and maintain various types of records; ability to maintain and perform minor repairs of athletic equipment and clothes; ability to supervise and work with assistants; ability to give routine first aid; ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology or related field. Knowledge of and/or experience with inventory tracking software such as SportSoft (or similar). Experience with Microsoft Office, emphasis in Excel. Ability to use or learn Human Resources software or applications. Knowledge and ability to use small power tools and hand tools. Ability to assist in troubleshooting and the repair of equipment. Ability to carry out and enforce rules in a tactful and respectful way.
Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid Certificate. A Valid California Driver’s License.
Occasional driving, weekend work, and/or overtime are required.
