About Wilmington University: Wilmington University is an NCAA Division II university that competes in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), and its main campus is located in New Castle, Delaware, with the WU Athletics Complex located six miles away in Newark. The athletics department sponsors 16 varsity sports.
Wilmington University is a private, non-sectarian university, which offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in a wide range of career areas. The University began with a charter class of 194 students in 1968 and now enrolls a diverse student body numbering more than 19,000 annually. The University offers flexible course scheduling with six ways to take a class over a 15-week semester: semester, block, modular, online, hybrid, and fusion courses.
Requirements: A Bachelor’s Degree is required. The incumbent must have knowledge of ground care and maintenance. Knowledge of specifications and standards related to baseball and softball field preparations. Specific knowledge of NCAA field specifications and regulations. Must have excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills. Must be detail-oriented and able to work with diverse populations. Must be self-directed and able to make decisions independently. Must be computer literate and proficient in basic Microsoft Office products. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in any situation is a must. The incumbent must have and maintain a valid Drivers License. Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Perform duties related to the general maintenance of the baseball, softball complex/areas, gymnasium, offices, medical room, scoreboards, and locker rooms. This may include painting, putting down sod, fertilizing, cutting, raking, lining fields, replacing bulbs, and other preparations as required.
• Inspect facilities daily as well as provide access to the facilities and equipment. The facilities and equipment will be secured at the end of the work shift.
• Drive, operate, and maintain the motorized equipment/vehicles and related accessories used in the maintenance of the complex/area.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations.
• Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies, and place orders for materials as required.
• Clean complex/areas after games.
• Supervise Work-Study students, if necessary.
• Serve as a liaison to outside organizations using the complexes.
• Supply equipment to various groups according to their requirements.
• Promote and foster an inclusive and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
• Perform all administrative duties including the completion and submission of routine reports.
• Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Athletics Grounds/Facility Manager and/or the Director of Athletics.
Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm (Incumbent must be flexible with hours based on the use of the complexes and the schedule of games, as well as the needs of the department and the University).
