Position:           Athletic Health and Wellness Counselor

Reports to:       Director of Athletics

The Athletic Health and Wellness Counselor is a vital role in supporting the mental health and performance of our student-athletes. This position focuses on enhancing self-efficacy, resilience, and overall well-being through individual counseling, team workshops, and collaboration with coaches and athletic staff. The successful candidate will use applied sport psychology principles to help student-athletes manage stress, improve focus, and overcome personal and performance-related challenges both on and off the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide confidential psychological counseling and performance coaching for student-athletes.
  • Conduct workshops on coping strategies, goal setting, visualization, and relaxation techniques.
  • Collaborate with coaches and staff to address stressors and promote athlete wellness.
  • Support student-athletes coping with injuries, setbacks, and mental health challenges such as anxiety and depression.
  • Use current research to develop and implement strategies that optimize athletic and personal performance.
  • Partner with the Assistant AD for Academic Success and Community Engagement to identify and assist student-athletes in need of additional support.
