The Athletics Mental Performance Coach will work collaboratively with coaches, student-athletes, and athletic and personal development. This role focuses on mental conditioning, performance psychology, and strategies that support student-athletes in achieving peak performance while maintaining academic and personal balance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Mental Skills Training:
Develop and implement programs to improve focus, confidence, motivation, stress management, and resilience.
Conduct individual and group/team sessions on mental performance strategies such as visualization, goal setting, and self-talk.
Develop training and educational sessions addressing emotional regulation and emotional intelligence. Focusing on awareness of triggers, cognitive reframing and self-awareness.
2. Collaboration & Education:
Partner with coaches to integrate mental performance techniques into practice and competition.

2. Collaboration & Education:

Provide workshops and educational sessions for teams, coaches, and staff on mental health awareness and performance psychology.
3. Student-Athlete Support:
Offer confidential consultations to student-athletes addressing performance-related challenges, anxiety, and coping strategies.
Refer student-athletes to Post University Mental Health and Wellness Center when clinical intervention is required.
Develop an injured student-athlete support system focusing on coping strategies, managing stress and dealing with setbacks during the rehabilitation process.
4. Program Development:
Design and evaluate mental performance programs aligned with NCAA Division II philosophy and institutional goals.
Track progress and outcomes of mental performance initiatives using data-driven methods.
5. Compliance & Ethics:
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to NCAA, institutional, and professional ethical standards.
Stay current with best practices in sport psychology and mental performance coaching.
