Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, OH, 30 miles east of Cleveland, invites applications for the full-time position of Athletic Operations Coordinator. Lake Erie College is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC). The coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, the day-to-day duties of overseeing the areas of the athletics facilities’ office, game/event operations and department of athletics student employment. This position serves as the liaison between several College departments, including event management and Physical Plant, as well as externally with the City of Painesville and related entities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages department budget.
Hires, trains and manages staff of graduate assistants, interns, student workers and other event staff.
Coordinates and oversees all game and special event management.
Manages all athletic facilities and grounds under the control of the department of athletics and serves as a liaison to Physical Plant and Painesville City Department of Recreation.
Assists in the planning and scheduling of all departmental sports practices, games, camps and clinics.
Maintains and cultivates a joint partnership with Painesville City Schools and Painesville City Department of Recreation.
Provides guidance on the development of intercollegiate scheduling, related practice schedules and personnel necessary to support these functions, i.e. officiating, contest management, etc.
Coordinates, directs and supervises all aspects of home game and special event management to include: concessions, event/game staff, game officials, visiting team coordination, traffic management, parking, gate/entry control, crowd control, etc.
Assists in the preparation of bid materials and budgets for conference and NCAA postseason playoffs, tournament, etc.
Provides oversight and vision as relates to ongoing facility management, renovation, upkeep and a master plan.
Serves as on-site administrator and main contact for all conference and NCAA post-season championships.
Works cooperatively with faculty/staff, College leadership, athletic administration, head coaches and student-athletes on behalf of athletic interests.
Understands and follows NCAA, GMAC and College regulations and remains current on all legislative proposals regarding athletics.
Assists the director of athletics in the preparation of papers, reports, planning documents, agendas and policies and procedures, i.e., ISSG, EADA report, etc.
Ensures a positive game environment and atmosphere, along with pre-game, half-time, timeout coordination and preparation of game protocol/countdown information.
Acts as liaison between the department and transportation partners.
Assists in planning and execution of department events.
Serves a member of the department’s leadership team.
Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel, as needed, for team practices, competition.
Assists with transportation of team in vans or bus, upon approval.
Operates within the mission of the College and athletics department to ensure a full NCAA DII student-athlete experience.
Performs other duties as assigned by the director of athletics.
Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in athletic administration, sport management or related field.
At least two years of facility management and game operations experience.
Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences.
Knowledge and skill in using integrated software systems and Microsoft applications.
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and levels and with a diverse body of student-athletes, coaches, administrators and staff.
Strong organizational skills; must be able to handle multiple, competing tasks and prioritize well.
Willingness to take initiative and to be flexible, sometimes under pressure situations.

All members of the department of athletics staff are responsible for following all institutional and NCAA regulations regarding recruiting and operations of the program and understanding that department of
athletics staff members who knowingly violate, conceal or attempt to cover up violations of NCAA rules shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment
