Apply NowThis position is responsible to maintain natural and artificial fields and facilities at one or more of the following: Helaman Recreation Area, Track and Field Complex, Haws Field, Stadium at South Field, Miller Sports Complex, and intramural fields for track, soccer, and sports camps. They are part of an athletic/special events team that assists support for all athletic venues when their specific sport is not in season and according to the Athletic/Special Events Supervisor's direct assignment. This position also participates in snow removal and ensures safety compliance training and documentation for employees.
Essential Functions
Safety and Public Relations** **** **
· Operate all equipment in a safe/effective manner to minimize the risk of injury and property damage
· Deal with campus, MTC and Church employees/visitors in a professional manner Supervision/Management
Maintenance
· Keep assigned facilities in optimum condition at all times
o Scheduling treatments as needed, such as aeration, overseeding, top-dressing, pesticide and fertilizer applications for sod.
o Maintenance for artificial turf, such as vacuuming and filling.
o Monitor watering schedule and adjust according to field needs, events and weather
· Strive to keep each field event-ready
o Be aware of scheduled events to enable proper field prep time
o Keep abreast of local pest infestations or plant diseases for early detection and avoidance
· Accountable for clean up of football fields and venue after games and special events
o Train crews in process for safe cleanup of stadium and sod replacement for divets
o All crews accountable to Special Events Specialist during cleanup
Marking Athletic Fields
· Set up and maintenance of athletic field marking, indoors and outdoors
· Coordinate with athletic department for special painting requests
· Monitor paint inventory, maintain paint "buggy" and walk-behind painters
· Paint ropes
· Train employees on safe, accurate and professional painting skills
Athletic Event Set-up
· Coordinates with scheduling and athletic departments regarding event management
· Ensure team areas are prepared with benches, fans, coolers and heaters depending on the season
· Support and set up for sports camps and maintain facilities in an event-ready condition
** Landscape Maintenance**
· Edging, mowing, trimming, raking, litter pickup, weeding, cultivating
· Planting, replacing sod, flowers and shrubs as needed
· Maintain irrigation systems and ensure proper operation
Sod Farm
· Maintain sod area for football field divot and sod repair
· Mow, fertilize, spray for weeds, insects and diseases, irrigate, over seeding, topdressing, and aeration
· Replace sod as it is consumed with appropriate soil material and seed or sod
· Manage sod-farm area the same as field for repairs all year
Record Keeping / Miscellaneous
· Time cards, raises, evaluations, and training compliance
· Notes and assessments from activities/events
· Inventory of paint and supplies; maintaining appropriate amounts
· Work Orders and shop issue requirements
Training
· Ensure proper training and documentation of and mentoring for employees in equipment operations, safety, operating procedures and athletic field and facility maintenance
· May represent the university at local and national associations with memberships in IMSTMA, STMA, and PLANET.
Snow Removal
· On call to work within a team scope in assigned snow removal area to clear walks, stairs, roads, plazas, crosswalks and ADA areas, parking lots and as necessary, athletic fields, in a safe and non-destructive manner for the safety of the intended user.

Education/Experience
Minimum education/experience required: 3 years in athletic field management/maintenance
Preferred: 5+ years' experience in athletic field management/maintenance and Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM)
