Athletic Trainer

Functional Title: Athletic Trainer Classification: Salaried Division: Athletics Department: Athletic Training Primary Function: Assist in the direction, development and oversight of the institution’s Athletic Training program.

Major Duties:

Supervise the initial care, evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for assigned sports. Overseeing the athletic training staff. Ensure that all student-athletes are covered by appropriate primary medical insurance Ensure that all student-athletes have completed the requisite paperwork prior to participation in intercollegiate athletics Assist in the team physical process in conjunction with the team doctor Travel to designated events with LCU Athletics teams and when not travelling, inform home universities of athletic training needs Assist in maintaining a complete and financially responsible inventory of athletic training room supplies Maintain medical charts Complete injury reports, treatment logs, and progress notes Mentor Lubbock Christian University Athletic Training students

Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or a related field At least one year of experience working as a Certified Athletic Trainer, preferably at the collegiate level Physical Requirements:

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to do the following:

Walk a long distance around campus and in buildings. Required to regularly sit and stand. Frequently use wrist, hands and/or fingers to make small repetitive movements such as typing, distributing mail and picking up small objects. Ability to talk frequently to convey detailed and/or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly or quickly. Be able to hear average or normal conversations and receive verbal information. Lift packages and/or move heavy objects, 50+lbs. Work evenings and weekends NOTE: All LCU employees are required to complete Title IX & Information Security (FERPA) training and Data Security Training at the time of new hire and on an annual basis thereafter. Some positions/departments may require additional training for security or data needs.
