Athletic Trainer
The Athletic Trainer will assist in administering prevention treatment and rehabilitation to student athletes engaged in various intercollegiate sports; assure compliance with health and safety standards; oversee the issuance, maintenance and replacement of athletic injury protective gear and equipment for the college athletic program.
Assist with providing care service for student-athlete injuries sustained during team practices and athletic events
Evaluate seriousness of injuries, and administers first aid
Prove protective taping, bracing and padding for athletes
Assures compliance with safety standards by properly fitting athletic equipment, knee, and ankle braces, and other protective gear
Monitor athletic rehabilitation programs for injured students
Assist with providing physical therapy treatment for injuries as diagnosed or prescribed by team physicians
Operate a variety of athletic and medical equipment including a muscle stimulation unit and ultrasound machine
Educate and counsel athletes about their conditions including the nature of injuries and the procedures to be followed for recovery
Serve as a trainer at home-and-away athletic events
Assist in advising coaches on athlete readiness to resume activity
Assist in preparing written procedures in collaboration with the Head Athletic Trainer and team physician regarding emergency management, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes including an annual review and update of established programs as maybe necessary
Cleans and maintain training room in a condition suitable for patient-studenßathlete care
Consults with coaches on injury prevention methods
Prepare and maintain records and repolts including injury and accident reports, rehabilitation logs and insurance claims.
Maintain and update student athlete files
May participate in selection, training and scheduling of student workers
Coordinate all athletic insurance claims
Produce weekly status reports
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
One year of experience working directly with college-level, high injury sports (i.e. football, basketball, etc.)

Valid driver’s license
Must be able to administer urgent first aid, preventative, and rehabilitative treatment to student athletes Must be able to evaluate and treat a variety of injuries
Physical:
Sufficient physical ability to work in an office setting and operate office equipment. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasional and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, tum/twist, balance, reach, or handle. Require hand and arm strength to perform massage and kneading movements. Require ambulatory ability to lift medium-to-heavy weight materials, balance, and walk and stand for extended periods of time
Vision
: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents. Well-developed hand eye coordination for precise motions and use of small instruments Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
Work Environment
: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where health and safety considerations exist from physical labor, blood borne pathogens and equipment. Travel, early morning, evening and weekend work is required. Exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations
Ability to communicate (verbally and written), concentrate, understand verbal instructions, reason, analyze, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, and maintain emotional control
