The University of Utah Athletics Department is looking to fill 2 positions. One to cover baseball and one to cover Ski.
Help develop and implement an overall Athletic Training program which includes and is not limited to: injury prevention programs, injury evaluations, injury management, injury treatment and rehabilitation, recording of athletic injuries, coordinating care and referral of athletes with other allied health professionals, dealing with insurance issues, and educational programs and counseling for student-athletes.

Provide Athletic Training services (prevention, treatment, evaluation, rehabilitation, and recording of athletic injuries, coordinating care of athletes with other allied health professionals, dealing with insurance issues, and communicating with coaches, parents and athletes- these services are to be provided for all team practices, training sessions, and competitions) for Baseball or Skiing and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletic Training.
Provide medical coverage and travel on all away competitions.
Assist with staff and doctors, the development and implementation of policies in relation to the care of our student-athletes.
Ensure consistent communication and follow up of student-athletes well-being to Athletic Department administrators and team physicians.
Coordinate physical examinations and medical referrals for assigned student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medicine program.
Work in collaboration with the strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology and mental wellness, and sport science staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student-athlete needs.
Assist in managing Athletic Training Facilities (includes inventory, maintenance of physical facility and equipment, and staffing)
Aid the Athletic Training Education Program in the recruitment and selection of Student Athletic Trainers
Supervision of Student Athletic Trainers as they provide services to our athletes as a preceptor of the Athletic Trainer Education program
Maintain Athletic Training Certification and State Licensure by attending educational courses, seminars, home study courses approved by the National Athletic Training Association
Other assignments as assigned by the director of Athletic Training
Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred in an appropriate area of specialization
Certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (
NATABOC
)
Eligible for a Utah State Athletic Training Licensure (www.dopl.utah.gov)
Familiarity with
NCAA
governing rules
Five years of athletic training experience post
NATABOC
certification required
Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must have physical ability to work long hours which includes standing and walking for long periods of time.
Demonstrate effective communication and Human relations skills.
A valid Driver’s License is required prior to start and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Experience covering
NCAA
D1, professional, or Olympic Baseball or Skiing as a Certified Athletic Trainer strongly preferred.
Additional certifications and/or experience in rehabilitation, sports performance, and implementing preventative strategies.
Familiarity and compliance with Conference governing rules
