The Athletic Trainer provides care for and assists in the prevention of athletically-related injuries, including therapeutic rehabilitation to facilitate a safe return to competition, while prioritizing the health and welfare of student-athletes.
Provide comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, immediate care, treatment and rehabilitation of athletically related injuries.
Develop and implement rehabilitation programs to facilitate safe return-to-play decisions in accordance with accepted athletic training practices and NCAA guidelines.
Stay current with legislation, regulations, and best practices related to athletic training and intercollegiate athletics. 4.Collaborate with team physicians, coaches, strength and conditioning staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for student-athletes. 5.Monitor student-athlete health and wellness and make independent medical decisions consistent with NCAA sports medicine best practices.
Participate in professional development activities to maintain certification, licensure and enhance professional knowledge.
Provide education to student-athletes and coaches on injury prevention, health, safety, and wellness topics. 8. Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and policies related to sports medicine, medical clearance, and participation. 9. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with NCAA, conference, institutional and applicable legal requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA).
Assist in the development and implementation of emergency action plans for athletic events and practices.
Coordinate medical coverage for practices, competitions, and team travel, including away contests with sport assignments.
Represent the Department of Athletics on institutional committees related to sports medicine, health, or student-athlete welfare.
Act as liaison with external medical providers, specialists and allied health professionals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate knowledge of NCAA sports medicine policies and best practices; strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; ability to work effectively with diverse student-athlete populations; sound clinical judgment; strong organizational and time-management skills; problem-solving ability; and a demonstrated commitment to student-athlete health, safety, and welfare.
