Job Summary/Basic Function:
Under healthcare direction of the Medical Director/Head Team Physician and administrative direction of the Director of Athletics at Lake Superior State University, we are seeking a Licensed Athletic Trainer responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare for our varsity athletic programs. Athletic Trainers will be involved in both the clinical and healthcare administration areas related to patient care. Athletic trainer will be responsible for all athletic training duties for assigned teams.

Under healthcare direction of the Medical Director/Head Team Physician and administrative direction of the Director of Athletics at Lake Superior State University, we are seeking a Licensed Athletic Trainer responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare for our varsity athletic programs. Athletic Trainers will be involved in both the clinical and healthcare administration areas related to patient care. Athletic trainer will be responsible for all athletic training duties for assigned teams.

Coordinate pre-participation, annual and exit physical exams
- In collaboration with Sports Performance professionals, develop and implement injury prevention strategies
- In collaboration with campus health services and team physicians, develop and implement student athlete health and performance enhancement education
- Evaluate and treat injuries at practices and competitions
- Design and implement rehabilitation programs
- Coordinate pre-practice/game preparation of teams
- Revise and implement emergency action plans
- Maintain and communicate injury/availability reports
- Prepare insurance claims
- Perform duties in cooperation with the University's medical director and team physician(s)
- Responsible for all medical equipment and protective equipment
- Includes travel with GLIAC DII teams as coordinated with the Athletics Director
- Responsible for developing and maintaining departmental policies including student-athlete wellbeing
- Communicate with student-athletes and coaches in the evenings and weekends, as needed
- Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic injury care records and reports as required following national standard of care
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
-BOC Certification
-Michigan AT Licensed or license eligible
-CPR, AED and first aid certification
-Experience working in intercollegiate
healthcare
Physical Demands:
-Ability to lift patients using biomedical
techniques frequently throughout the
course of a work day; must be capable of
easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight
alone.
-Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach
constantly during a work day/shift.
-Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient
to maintain accurate records, recognize
people, and understand written direction.
-Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to
understand and give directions.
-Ability to push wheeled equipment
throughout the facility and in conjunction
with team travel.
-Fine motor skills adequate for scheduling
and preparing patients, equipment, and
supplies for treatment.
-Ability to participate in sustained activities
for many hours in duration in accordance
with state labor laws.
