Trinity Christian College seeks a full-time Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer has overall responsibility for the Athletic Training Services at Trinity Christian College and reports to the Director of Athletics. The Sports Medicine program provides care to 300 student-athletes who participate in 16 varsity sports competing in NAIA. The program provides an integrated system of overall health care, injury prevention, first aid and emergency care, and treatment and rehabilitation for students engaged in athletic activity at the varsity intercollegiate level.
The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Develop and manage protocols and policies pertaining to athletic training services.
Oversee athletic training staff hiring, support, and professional development, including in-service education.
Direct oversight of daily operations of all athletic training facilities.
Direct supervision and evaluation of athletic training staff and athletic trainer (as pertains to athletic training services) including peer review and performance appraisals.
Develop and review sport assignments and daily work schedules for athletic trainers.
Develop and manage emergency action planning.
Coordinate a system of inventory and control for the disbursement of supplies.
Direct and supervise data collection and synthesis regarding the incidence of athletic injury and the utilization of the Athletic Training treatment facilities.
Oversight of Athletic Training budget
Representative of Athletic Training at Department of Athletics meetings.
Serve as healthcare administrator for CCAC and NAIA committees.
Other duties as assigned.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Assume primary responsibility for a minimum of six intercollegiate athletic team per year.
Provide emergency care and treatment to any student athlete under Trinity’s jurisdiction.
Daily care coordination with all staff physicians, orthopedic consultants, and sports medicine fellows providing patient care.
Additional qualifications include:
Master’s degree in Athletic Training, preferred
National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATA BOC)
License holder with IL Board of Medical Examiners as an Athletic Trainer
Expertise in injury recognition, first aid, emergency medical skills treatment and rehabilitative techniques, and conditioning programs
CPR and AED Certifications.
At least 5 years of experience in an Athletic Training program at a higher education institution, preferred
Strong program management and staff supervisory skills
Computer skills
Physical and psychological stamina necessary to supervise a broad and demanding program requiring flexible hours and travel
Experience with health and wellness programs for athletes
Experience in an NAIA or NCAA Athletic Program
Knowledge and experience in facilitating future expansion of athletic trainer staff and facilities
