The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the
NCAA
Division I-
FBS
and the Mountain West Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. More information on the University and its intercollegiate athletics program can be found at www.csurams.com and www.colostate.edu.
This position is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day oversight of athletic training/sports medicine services for an
NCAA
Div. I-
FBS
intercollegiate athletics football program and secondary sport assignment(s) as assigned by Senior Associate Athletic Director for Health and Performance.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in health and exercise science, sports medicine, kinesiology, anatomy or related field
Current
NATA
certification required
Minimum of two years of previous experience as a certified athletic trainer required, preferably in an intercollegiate sports medicine or athletic training program at the
NCAA
Division I level
Current registration as an athletic trainer with the State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (
DORA
) required prior to the start date of employment

High level of clinic athletic training skills
Effective communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to work effectively and productively within a team-based approach
Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a high demand/high stress profession
Ability to respond professionally and competently in emergency situations
Computer and social media technology competency
Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date
Master’s degree preferred
Broad-based experience
Football experience preferred.

Essential Duties

- Assist with primary athletic training coverage, including prevention and care of athletic related injuries, for all football players
- Assist with prevention and care of athletic related injuries for all sports programs as assigned by Associate Athletic Director for Sports Performance
- Provide clinical evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses under the general supervision of the designated team physician and in accordance with standards of the NATABOC and state regulatory board
- Schedule diagnostic testing for student-athletes as indicated and ordered by managing physician; maintain open lines of communication with team physicians and medical providers regarding diagnostic testing
- Assist with coordination and management of physician coverage for home events in accordance with NCAA and professional best practice standards
- Maintain current certification and credentials consistent with NATABOC and state regulatory agency requirements
- Coordinate physical exams for student-athletes
- Coordinate physician referrals as part of the injury management process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date written treatment and injury records in accordance with established medical documentation standards
- Provide regular communication with coaching staff regarding injury and participation status of student-athletes

- Assist with oversight of the Sports Medicine Facilities to insure appropriate function, maintenance and accurate inventory control
- Assist in the development and integration of sports medicine policies and procedures as they relate to the operation of athletic training services, including EAP’s and game day EMS
- Assist with inventory control to ensure supplies are ordered, delivered, inventoried and stored in an appropriate and timely manner; maintain budgetary and purchasing compliance
- Verify and document that University and NCAA insurance requirements are met for student-athletes under assigned sport(s)
- Assist with recruitment, hiring and oversight of athletic training educational interns, graduate students and work-study students
- Assist with coordination and oversight of athletic training coverage for institutional summer camps
- Attend meetings as required by the NCAA, MW and University administration
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Football Athletic Trainer and the Associate AD for Sports Performance
- Be knowledgeable of and fully comply with all appropriate rules and regulations of Colorado State University, the MW Conference and the NCAA
- Provide support for the Department’s overall rules education and compliance efforts
- Report any knowledge of rules violations
Prepare, record and retain documentation as required
- Contribute proactively to a culture of compliance in the program
- Adhere to the mission statement and guiding principles of the Department and promote commitment to the mission by all staff under your supervision
