POSITION TITLE: Athletic Trainer
REPORTS TO: Head Athletic Trainer
POSITION SUMMARY: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the development, coordination and administration of a comprehensive athletic training program for Eureka College intercollegiate sports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in managing the sports medicine department.
• Assist with proper recordkeeping and injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment and rehabilitation for varsity student-athletes.
• Provide day-to-day coverage of the athletic training room for rehabilitation and evaluation of injuries.
• Provide practice and athletic contest coverage as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Assist with the coordination of proper response and care with designated team physician on all Eureka College student-athlete injuries.
• Maintain current knowledge of NCAA guidelines in the NCAA sports medicine handbook as well as conference guidelines and requirements.
• Assist with the yearly inventory, and order supplies and equipment as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain clear communication and professional relationships with students, coaches, faculty, staff, and external constituents.
• Assist with maintaining accurate medical and insurance records for the athletic department administration, coaching staff, and all support staff.
• Provide care for the athletic training equipment and facilities, maintaining a clean and professional work environment.
• Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
Manage student workers as necessary.
EDUCATION:
Essential: Master’s Degree in related field
EXPERIENCE
Essential: 1+ year of athletic training experience.
Desirable: 1+ year of collegiate athletic training experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid driver’s license. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Licensed or eligible in the state of Illinois.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of athletic training.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
• Ability to deliver their knowledge to and instruct student-athletes in an effective manner.
• Knowledge of safety and first aid techniques.
• Skill in identifying problems, evaluating alternatives and implementing effective solutions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships with a diverse population.
• Knowledge of basic computer applications and electronic mail.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Work is routinely performed both indoor and outdoor, in office environment and in gyms, on playing fields, and other recreational environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Off campus travel is required.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The work schedule for this position varies depending on practice and home game schedules. This position requires flexibility and the ability to work mornings, nights and weekends.
