Job Description:

The Athletic Trainer plays a key role in supporting the Head Athletic Trainer by managing various day-to-day responsibilities. These include providing care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation for athletic injuries among student-athletes, scheduling coverage for practices, home games, and select away contests, and overseeing the creation, organization, and tracking of all student-athlete medical forms and insurance. All tasks must be executed in compliance with college, conference, and NCAA Division III rules and regulations, while upholding the leadership, direction, and vision of the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation.This position reports to the Head Athletic Trainer.

Salary:

This is a ten (10) month full-time exempt position with a salary range of $70,000.00 to $75,000.00.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides onsite care and management of student-athletes' injuries and illnesses including prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation.
• Provides coverage for athletics contests and practices, both at home and away, requiring travel, as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
• Communicates with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of student-athletes.
• Maintains appropriate medical records, including pre-participation physicals, injury and rehabilitation documentation, outreach clearance forms, and insurance information.
• Assists in the daily maintenance of the athletic training room.
• Supervises interns and student staff.
• Frequent travel and early morning/evening/weekend/holiday work is required.
• Other duties as assigned or required.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Position involves sitting, movement and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds in training situations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• 1-3 years' experience required (graduate assistantship experience will be considered).
• Certified by the National Athletic Training Association Board of Certification (BOC), required.
• Maintain Massachusetts state athletic training licensure, required.
• Meet criteria for certification as established in the National Athletic Training Association with respect to continuing education units (CEU'S), and First Aid CPR/AED certification, required, or willingness to obtain.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to foster an engaging, innovative, and collaborative workplace culture.
• Demonstrate skills in interacting effectively with students, staff, faculty, physicians, athletics personnel, families, and others.
