Retirement: The University contributes 4% of the regular salary with up to 3% additional in matched contributions into the TIAA Retirement Program. Other benefits include tuition remission for employee, spouse, and employee’s dependent children under the age of 25 (this does not include the last two year of the PharmD program or the JD), twenty days of vacation and twenty days of paid medical leave per year.
The athletic training staff member’s primary responsibility is to work cooperatively and productively with the ONU Staff Athletic Trainers, Coaches, Mercy Hospital, and Orthopaedic Institute of Ohio. The staff member will assist in pre-season coverage for the intercollegiate athletes and assist in following all medical directions as prescribed by the University Athletic Team Physician and his or her Designated Physician(s).
Providing athletic training services to Ohio Northern student athletes.
Evaluate injuries sustained by intercollegiate athletes. Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Prepare athletes for practices and games. Observe practices and provide athletic training services as needed. Communicate athletes’ participation status and other pertinent information to the appropriate coaching staff. Compile daily injury reports for assigned sports and maintain accurate medical records. Provide athletic training coverage for both home and away games.
Excellent organization, communication and time management. Ability to work in small groups or project teams. Candidates must have experience with injury tracking software, concussion management protocol and ImPACT testing. Candidates are also required to have experience implementing rehabilitation programs.
Bachelor’s Degree. BOC certified and in good standing with the BOC. Candidates must be licensed in the state of Ohio or eligible for licensure. Candidates must possess current certification in CPR, PR, or BLS.
Master’s Degree. Two or more years of similar work experience.
