The Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer reports to the Director of Sports Medicine and Clinical Coordinator of Sports Medicine. The Sport Medicine Athletic Trainer assists in the daily care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries, supervising Athletic Training Students and assists the Sports Medicine Staff in day-to-day operations, including but not limited to Athletic Care and Coverage, Medical Clearances and Administrative Duties.
This position allows for a flexible schedule.

The Sport Medicine Athletic Trainer assists in the daily care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries, supervising Athletic Training Students and assists the Sports Medicine Staff in day-to-day operations, including but not limited to Athletic Care and Coverage, Medical Clearances and Administrative Duties.

Duties:
Assists in the daily care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injuries.
Assists with the daily operation of the Sports Medicine Clinic.
Assists in maintaining a system of injury reports and daily treatment records on all student-athletes.
Assists in the supervision of the Athletic Training Students’ clinical experience n the Sports Medicine Clinic.
Administers emergency care and makes medical referrals.
Facilitates communication among student-athlete, physician, and coach.
Adheres to established policies and procedures.
Provides direct care as a Certified Athletic Trainer to all student-athletes and is assigned sports which may require travel.
Educates and counsels coaching staff, student-athletes, Athletic Training Students, and co-workers.
Conducts performance evaluations for Athletic Training Students.
Ensures efficient patient flow in the Sports Medicine Clinic.
Monitors documentation of athletic-related injuries into Sportsware system.
Maintains continuing education units required by the NATA.
Complies with NCAA medical regulations and Conference Athletic Trainers’ Handbook.
Monitors compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding documentation for medical hardship waivers.
Provides student-athletes and coaches with rules education regarding use of banned substances and drug testing.
Provides student-athletes and coaches with rules education regarding NCAA and institutional insurance programs.
Supervises and monitors ineligibility for the use of banned drugs consistent with NCAA Bylaws.
Assists in compliance with NCAA Bylaws regarding daily and weekly hour limitations.
Assists in compliance with NCAA tobacco ban for coaches and student-athletes.
Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate

Collaborates productively with colleagues of varying skillset
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine or Clinical Coordinator of Sports Medicine.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
Certification through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification OR Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers Certification by the American Red Cross OR American Heart Association
Graduated from a CAATE Approved Athletic Training Program
Evidence of a strong commitment to an evangelical Christian philosophy and lifestyle
Demonstrated knowledge of current thinking in the five (5) domains of Athletic Training
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and minister to student-athletes
Ability to work under pressure, exuding a mature demeanor while multi-tasking in a deadline-oriented environment with accuracy and consistency.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as an independent contributor.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretionary skills in determining when to act independently and when to consult management prior to taking action.
Self-starter with a positive attitude.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
Frequent computer use at a workstation
Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to manually assist ambulation of injured athletes.
Must be able to perform the manual tasks associated with manual therapy for both evaluation and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
