Boston University Academy is seeking a full-time Athletic Trainer / Assistant Athletic Director to begin in August 2024 (start date flexible). As the school’s Athletic Trainer, the primary responsibility is to work with student athletes on the management, prevention, and recovery from injury. They will be present at practices and games and will be expected to be the first responder in case of injury. As the Assistant Athletic Director, the primary responsibility will be to support the Athletic Director with the administration of a growing athletic program in such duties as scheduling, purchasing, and supervision of games and coaches. This person will also be a part of the school’s health and safety team, involved in staff safety training, student health records management and protocols, and emergency response protocols. BUA staff and faculty are also involved in various aspects of school life, including advising, chaperoning trips and events, and leading extracurricular activities.
As the only high school in New England that is part of a major research university, Boston University Academy (BUA) offers students who love learning both a traditional, caring independent school experience and access to a broad range of university courses. In the eleventh and twelfth grades, students follow their passions by regularly completing up to twelve courses from Boston University’s undergraduate curriculum. The school’s 233 students are curious, capable, and kind. They come from 55 cities and towns in the Greater Boston area. 56% of students identify as students of color. 30% of students are on financial aid — a reflection of BUA’s commitment to equity and access.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of related experience, but candidates of any experience level are welcome to apply. A successful candidate must be a certified Athletic Trainer. This person should have a passion and a desire for working with high school students, as well as the skills to communicate with them effectively. The athletic training program is relatively new at BUA, so the ideal candidate will be someone with the energy and excitement to continue that development. As a part of Boston University, this person will have the opportunity to take advantage of the athletic training resources of a Division 1 athletic program.
