The Athletic Trainer for Wellness and Recreation is directly responsible for providing athletic training services for intramurals, club sports, and other WRC sponsored events.
Athletic training services will include rendering emergency care, development of injury prevention programs, providing appropriate preventative measures, assessment and management of injuries, and treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.

This position also serves as the Intramural Coordinator and is directly responsible for the implementation and on-site supervision of a comprehensive series of intramural sports and recreational programs.
Risk Management - 50
Provide athletic training services for intramural and club sports events and determine which events are the highest risk and provide coverage accordingly.
Develop the WRC Emergency Action Plan and educate staff on policies to follow during emergency-based situations.
Respond and appropriately manage all emergencies while on-site.
Train student supervisors on risk management policies and continue to educate and update them monthly.
Assess and manage all injuries that occur during WRC sponsored events.
Provide day-time clinical hours to assess WRC sponsored injuries.
Maintain accurate records of all injuries and treatments that are provided.
Develop the severe weather policy and implement when appropriate.
Keep inventory of all medical supplies and assist the associate director in developing and maintaining a budget for athletic training services.
Attend and participate in meetings with the WRC professional staff.
Ensure safety of participants through proper maintenance of equipment, proper staff coverage, safe playing conditions to all intramural and recreational activities.
Program Management - 45
Provide supervision and conflict management for intramurals, club sports, and other sponsored WRC sporting events.
Review, analyze, and edit current intramural sports programming. Make recommendations and modifications to meet the needs of the students.
Assist the associate director of wellness and recreation with overseeing of student supervisors, officials, and scorekeepers. May include interviewing, training, supervising, and evaluating student employees.
Update website and social media which includes but is not limited to intramural legends, intramural leaders, intramural highlights, and club sport highlights.
Organize and keep inventories for all intramural equipment and assist the associate director with purchasing intramural equipment.
Travel to state, regional, or national tournaments as directed.
Other - 5
Perform other duties as assigned as directed by the Director/Associate Director of Wellness and Recreation. Serve on campus committees as required.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
Other Required Qualifications
NATA BOC certified and possess or be in the process of acquiring licensure in the State of Georgia CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
Required Experience
3 years related experience
Preferred Educational Qualifications
Master's degree in Athletic Training or related field
Preferred Experience
Ability to administer multiple on-going tasks and follow complex administrative procedures
One or more years of athletic training experience working with collegiate aged athletes.
Preference in FMS, SFMA, PES, CES, or CSCS credentials or equivalent.
One or more years of referee, campus recreation, or other sports management experience.
ABILITIES
Must be able to make independent decisions regarding the assessment and management of injuries
Ability to communicate effectively during high stress/pressure situations when talking to patients and other staff members
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Ability to identify potential risks and plan and respond accordingly.
