Job Description

The Certified Athletic Trainer (AT II) and Sports Performance Specialist reports to the assigned Sports Medicine leader and will be assigned to the Charleston Battery.  The AT will serve in a dual role including Athletic Trainer and Sports Performance related responsibilities necessary for a professional soccer team.  AT responsibilities include providing community-based point of service for sports related prevention, care, coverage and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries and sports related ailments within a defined environment for professional athletes under the general supervision of the physician, physical therapist, physician assistant and or nurse practitioner.  Sports Performance responsibilities include Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning, and Functional Assessments and Training as outlined by the coaching staff, Charleston Battery and MUSC Health Sports Medicine leadership.  Job includes local and travel responsibilities, weekday and weekend schedules, including practice and game coverage and pre- and post- event preparations and treatments. Offseason responsibilities include designing and managing rehabilitation and offseason training for players as well as cross coverage as needed for other MUSC Health affiliated teams.

Additional Job Description

Graduate of an accredited college with a BS/BA. (Masters degree in Athletic Training preferred). Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC). Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as an Athletic Trainer in South Carolina by the LLR.  Sports Performance credentials including CSCS, PES, or other related credentialing.  Must be able to adjust communication both verbal and non-verbal to interact appropriately and effectively with a wide variety athletes, coaches, and medical professionals.
