Reporting to the Associate Director of Club Sports and Intramurals, the Athletic Trainer will work in a clinical based coverage model, coordinating medical care and comprehensive athletic training services for RIT students participating in Club Sports. Duties include, but are not limited to: medical clearance, injury prevention, care of athletic injuries and rehabilitation. In consultation with the Associate Director of Club Sports and Intramurals, the club sport Athletic Trainer will coordinate all operational policies and procedures for the athletic training services offered to club sport student-athletes. Furthermore, this individual will schedule contracted per diem athletic trainers to cover all moderate to high-risk club sport home events. The incumbent will adhere to industry best practices and policies, possess and maintain NATA-BOC certification and possess or be eligible for New York state licensure. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of success. They should also have strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform daily assignments that include, preforming injury evaluations, rehabilitation sessions, managing injury reports/return to play clearance
• Implement rehabilitation and treatment programs for club sport athletes and document appropriately. Communicate with and provide updates on athletic injuries, issues and topics with Associate Director and practicing Physician when appropriate.
• Secure contracted Athletic Training coverage for club sport home games and ensure EAP is communicated.
• Facilitate athlete referrals for care through physicians, surgeons, therapists and specialists including proper insurance notification and directional assistance.
• Collect, compile, and facilitate athlete physical participation status forms. Assist with the management and filing of secondary insurance forms.
• Assistance with the writing and the implementation of policies & procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by Associate Director of Club Sports and Intramurals.
• Participate on committees and professional development as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program.
• Certification by Board of Certification for Athletic Training
• New York State Athletic Training Licensure (or ability to obtain with 30 days of employment)
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certification Experience:
• A minimum of 1-3 years of working experience in athletic training PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy. (see Page 4)
  

Skills: - Ability to foster relations with internal staff, team physicians, and student-athletes. - Ability to manage and maintain confidential and private information; uses confidential, sensitive and/or private records and information, protects information appropriately. - Effective interpersonal, written, and electronic communications skills, including the ability to convey complex information in accessible terms to diverse or multicultural groups. - Computer proficiency using software and enterprise systems appropriate for the complexities of the role and its functions. - Willingness to engage in learning opportunities regarding Deaf Culture and conversational American Sign Language (ASL).
