The Athletic Trainer provides initial injury assessment, first aid care, short-term injury support, and referral coordination for students in a performing arts-focused environment. The position focuses on addressing concerns that can be managed through brief intervention and referring students to outside healthcare providers when additional evaluation or ongoing treatment is needed.

Serving as an initial point of care for students, the Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with faculty, Student Affairs, Production, and outside healthcare providers to support student wellness and safe participation in dance, performance, and academic activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide initial evaluation and management of musculoskeletal injuries and student wellness concerns for currently enrolled students.
  • Provide short-term injury support, including taping, first aid, and basic injury-management guidance.
  • Identify conditions requiring additional evaluation or ongoing treatment and refer students to appropriate outside healthcare providers.
  • Determine temporary activity modifications and participation recommendations for injured students.
  • Communicate temporary movement modifications and participation recommendations to faculty and appropriate campus staff as needed.
  • Follow up with students regarding outside referrals and readiness to resume activity, as appropriate.
  • Provide injury prevention education and information about available campus and community resources.
