Baker University seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Athletic Trainer vacancy. The position of Athletic Trainer will function as a member of the sports medicine staff and operate under the immediate supervision of the Director of Sports Medicine. The term of the position will be 11 months from July 1 through May 31 of each fiscal year. The Athletic Trainer will function as the primary coordinator of the student athletic assistants and manage the recruitment, retention, and supervision aspects of this group. The Athletic Trainer will also assist with the care of student-athletes competing in all of the university’s athletic programs. Duties include the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries coverage for athletic practices and competitions. The Athletic Trainer will also assist in completing student-athlete injury reports, entry of information into the electronic medical record system, and the subsequent submission of insurance forms to the appropriate university personnel.
Candidates must have masters’ degree in an appropriate area of specialization, be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC), and be licensed by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts. They must also be familiar with NCAA, NAIA, or NJCAA governing rules and be compliant with university, HAAC, NAIA, NATA, and KSBHA policies. Candidates should also be effective written and oral communicators, maintain confidentiality, and have the ability to supervise students and work as a member of a team.
