ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness, and emotional development of student-athletes at USF Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters, and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporter to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs, and prominence as an educational institution.
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide healthcare, prevention, rehabilitation, and overall medical guidance to professional athletes. This includes, but is not limited to, coverage of practices, games, travel, communication with coaches, stakeholders, and other healthcare providers. To provide risk management strategies to ensure health and safety of the athletes while minimizing risk to the university and organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee healthcare of the professional athletes. This includes but is not limited to- evaluations, emergency care, injury/illness care/treatments, rehabilitation , event medical coverage for both home and away contests.
Manage and coordinate the health care of the athletes including outside appointments, arranging mental health coaching and counseling, nutrition counseling, and access to any other medical professionals as needed.
Administrative duties of insurance coordination, insurance verification, pre-participation physicals.
Oversee daily usage of medical equipment such as modalities, hydrotherapy and rehabilitation equipment
Other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Master's degree from an accredited Athletic Training program or combination of education and experience equivalent as such; certified or eligible for certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC); and licensed or eligible for licensure as an athletic trainer in the state of Florida.
PREFERRED:
Master’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in intercollegiate or professional athletics with a preferred emphasis in the sport of soccer.
