The academic coordinator will provide holistic academic support and monitor the academic progress of assigned student-athletes from matriculation to graduation and assist with the coordination of assigned academic programs as well as student-athlete development events and initiatives.
Essential Duties
Provides academic support to student-athletes and assists with academic coaching in areas including study skills, time management, organizational skills, and other aspects of student life. Meets regularly with students to monitor academic progress, class attendance, and grades. Communicates student-athletes’ academic progress, grade checks and reporting weekly to coaching staff. Provides information to student-athletes and coaches regarding institutional polices, academic requirements and athletic eligibility. Provides assistance in course scheduling, career planning, and other University academic requirements. Serves as a liaison between student-athletes and faculty, academic departments, and professional advisors in the university. Monitors and tracks athletic eligibility and academic progress in collaboration with certifying officer and professional advisors. Participates in the recruiting process by meeting with prospective student-athletes in assigned sports. Assists in the development of student-athlete orientation, career, personal and professional development programs. Performs similar or related duties as assigned or required.

Travel to professional development conferences. Assist and coordinate special projects. Travel with teams may be required. Must be able to evaluate transcripts. Responsible for providing weekly academic reports to coaches and administrators.
A Master’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution in a directly related area of specialization; or a Bachelor’s degree from an acceptable accredited institution and two years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Experience in a university advising center advising student-athletes at the intercollegiate level is preferred. Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance.Campus Security Authority (CSA) This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that your responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make you someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSAs responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. For more information concerning the training sessions or CSAs, please contact the University Police Department at (904) 620-2800 or the Office of the General Counsel at (904) 620-2828.The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role under Title IX.
