The Athletics and Recreation Facility Supervisor is responsible for the monitoring and supervision of facility operations, issues, maintenance and upkeep to ensure safety and aesthetics of facilities used by Saint Joseph’s University students, staff, and community members for athletic and/or recreational activities. This position requires a proactive approach to customer service and the ability to communicate in a professional manner with Department of Athletics and Recreation constituents, campus partners and third parties. The supervisor should have an understanding of best practices in both facility management and athletics and recreation programming.
• Responsible for monitoring and supervising activities happening in all spaces within and immediately surrounding the facility, including (but not limited to) basketball courts, multi-purpose rooms, fitness center, pool, and locker areas.• Serve as the initial point of contact for front desk attendant, facility guests and student staff regarding facility needs and issues.• Conduct regular walk-throughs of the facility to address safety, housekeeping and participant issues.• Communicate and coordinate directly with Public Safety, Facilities Management, Housekeeping and other campus partners and third party constituents as needed to address any facility needs or issues.• Perform open and/or close procedures for the facility as appropriate.• Provide daily reporting to both the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management and Assistant Athletic Director for Campus Recreation as appropriate.• Follow guidelines to ensure compliance with University, City, State, NCAA and A-10 Conference rules and regulations.
• Attend Athletic Department meetings and trainings as required.• May be required to obtain CPR or other certification.• The person who holds this position has been classified as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).• Serve as departmental liaison with students, faculty/staff, members, guests, and outside interest groups regarding building usage, memberships, rentals, and dissemination of materials and information.
• Hours could vary based on need and programming and could include early morning, evening and weekend hours.• Ability to lift and move equipment.• Certain areas of facility may not be air-conditioned.
• High school diploma or equivalent.• 1-3 years of facility management, customer service or related experience.• History of dependability, positive participant interaction and sound decision-making rooted in safety and risk management.• Understand the importance of a customer service-focused approach.• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.• Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with diverse constituents.• Ability to utilize technology effectively for tasks inherent to this role (communication, reporting, signage, scheduling, etc.).
• Previous facility management and supervisory experience.• Previous experience working in an athletics or recreation environment.• Understand and appreciate the role and importance of facilities in the student experience and the recruiting process.
