Part Time Broadcaster
DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS
Position Summary:
This is a part-time position intended to provide accurate, engaging, and professional play-by-play broadcasts for assigned Rogers State soccer, basketball, baseball, and softball contests. Work closely with the Athletics Communications staff to prepare for broadcasts and ensure accurate information is communicated on air.
Primary Duties:
• Research teams, coaches, players, statistics, storylines, and relevant game information to prepare for each broadcast.
• Develop compelling game narratives while maintaining an objective and professional broadcasting style.
• Conduct interviews and other on-air features as assigned.
• Assist with pregame, halftime/intermission, and postgame coverage when appropriate.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference, and sport-specific rules and terminology.
• Operate or work with available broadcast and production equipment as required.
• Promote the Rogers State Athletics brand through professional, energetic, and audience-appropriate broadcasts.
• Perform other duties related to athletics communications and game-day operations as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Strong verbal communication and public-speaking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear, accurate, and engaging live play-by-play.
• Strong preparation, organization, and research skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with athletics communications and production staff.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and other non-traditional hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous collegiate or professional sports broadcasting experience.
• Experience broadcasting multiple sports, particularly soccer, basketball, baseball, and/or softball.
• Familiarity with NCAA athletics and collegiate sports communications.
• Experience with digital, streaming, or video-based sports broadcasts.
• Knowledge of statistics, scoring systems, and sport-specific broadcast terminology.
Knowledge and Skills:
Reports to: Assistant Athletic Director for Communications
Licenses: None
Supervision Given to: None
Hours: nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
